Haywood County Utility District
AMR Water Meters

Haywood County Utility District will be accepting bids to accomplish a mass water meter changeout. Bids will be received by the Brownsville Energy Authority at 25 North Lafayette, Brownsville, Tennessee, until 1:00 p.m. Central Time, September 25, 2025.
Mailed bids should be addressed to Mr. Russ Stoots, General Manager, Brownsville Energy Authority, 25 North Lafayette, Brownsville, Tennessee 38012, and each bidder shall be responsible for their delivery by mail or email by the above-noted time.

Water Meter Specifications for Drive-by System:
  • Quantity of 607 - Iperl+ 5/8” x7 ½” composite, electromagnetic water meter
  • Quantity of 607 - Sensus 520 Pit Radio
  • Command link (1)
  • Compatible Vehicle laptop unit for meter reading
  • Annual software and System rollout Management

Brownsville Energy Authority Operates and Maintains Haywood County Utility District Water System. BEA is the host provider for the AMI/AMR water system. Water meters will have to be compatible with BEA’s existing water AMI provider and the comprehensive solution that is in place.
Grid Modernization - Meter Replacement

BEA will have a utility-wide replacement of all-electric, natural gas, and water meters with new advanced meters. Meter replacement will start in mid-March and be ongoing until the end of the calendar year 2025.

BEA has partnered with a contractor for meter replacement, Allegiant Utility Services.

Electric

We are proud of the fact that our rates are among the lowest in the state. Brownsville Energy Authority purchases its electricity from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

 

Water

Our water meets all of EPA s health standards. We have conducted numerous tests for over 80 contaminants that may be in drinking water. We found all of these contaminants at safe levels.View Water Quality Reports

 

Natural Gas

Our natural gas is purchased from the Tennergy Corporation and transported over Texas Gas Pipeline.

 

Pilot Light Policy

Effective November 1, 2022 BEA will provide lighting of pilot for free for the first request during business hours, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. If the customer is not at home or has a second request to have pilot lit or if the customer requests to have pilot lit outside of regular business hours, a fee of $20 will be charged to customer.

 

Propane

Brownsville Energy Authority serves the people of Brownsville and parts of Haywood County with propane utilities.
